MJD were appointed the mechanical contractor for Park Cottage; an impressive contemporary new home spanning over 1000 sq feet in South Wraxall.
The family home replaced a few buildings that occupied a prominent corner of the village conservation area. The new building sits perfectly within the village context respecting the characteristics of the village whilst at the same time is a beautiful contemporary piece of architecture.
One small fragment of the existing buildings was retained ‘the reading room’ situated at the back of the house which was built in 1885 for use of men & boys in the village. The front of the house boasts a beautiful entrance hall opening onto a dining and living area, two kitchens with a utility, and a gym/games room. A luxury bespoke spiral staircase takes you to the second floor comprising of five luxury bedrooms all with en-suites. At the back of the house is a separate annex complete with its own entrance hall leading to a snug, study and shower room, upstairs hosts another bedroom with an en-suite and dressing area.
The mechanical works involved in creating this beautiful new home consisted of a new plant room to the bottom floor that fed each room in the house with underfloor heating, hot & cold domestics and ventilation. The house also uses ground source heat pumps making the house comfortably exceed the requirements of Code for Sustainable Homes (Level 4).
